Generative AI Usage Policy

The ACLAS Journal recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools can assist scholarly communication, while also posing risks to originality, accuracy, and accountability. Our policy follows current international publisher guidance.

For authors

• Generative AI tools may not be listed as an author; authorship implies human responsibility that AI cannot assume.
• AI tools may be used only to improve language, readability, and formatting — never to generate data, analysis, citations, or scientific content.
• Any use of AI tools must be disclosed in a statement within the manuscript (typically in the Methods or Acknowledgments section), describing the tool and the purpose of its use.
• Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and originality of the entire work, including all AI-assisted text.

For reviewers

• Reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts or any unpublished material to generative AI tools; manuscripts are confidential.

For editors

• Editors must not use generative AI tools when handling submissions or making editorial decisions.
• Suspected undisclosed or improper AI use will be investigated following COPE guidance.
